Tradeshow Design Mumbai, which will showcase Indian and international design as well as architecture and interior brands and designers, is set to launch this November.
A new venture by design and event specialists Ian Rudge, Michael Dynan and Piyush Suri, Design Mumbai will be held at Jio World Garden from 6 to 9 November 2024. It will aim to highlight both established and emerging talent spanning across the interior, architecture and design sectors.
"[Design Mumbai] is India's first professionally vetted, strictly curated trade focused design show, shining a light on the importance and value of the very best contemporary design with a truly international perspective and reach," the event organisers told Dezeen.
"Design Mumbai brings together world renowned designers and brands with emerging Indian brands and designers to create an event that puts India well and truly on the global design map."
Among the leading global brands participating in this year's event are Zaha Hadid Design, designer Michael Young and sculptor and ceramicist Naja Utzon Popov, while local participants include contemporary manufacturer Loco Design and textile studio INKA.
"In Design Mumbai, we have found a perfect alliance, an ambitious event that comes at the right time for India's fast-paced, maturing market," said Loco Design co-founder Parminder Pal Singh.
"We are delighted to be a part of the show and look forward to this path-breaking event as a founding exhibitor."
Operating as a juried event, each exhibitor at Design Mumbai will be either chosen or invited to take part by a panel of advisors and organisers.
"The selection process, guided by the team's highly experienced founders and organisers, will prioritise original products designed by named designers, and aim to strike a balance of local, growing talent alongside established international brands," the organisation said.
The team behind Design Mumbai are experienced organisers of design fairs and tradeshows. Rudge previously co-founded the 100% Design and Tent London brands, Dynan has launched numerous events, including Design Shanghai, while Suri is behind the Handmade in Britain craft fairs.
Dezeen will be the media partner for the event's media coverage. The event has also partnered with Soho House Mumbai who will operate as the official food and beverage partner of Design Mumbai.
Montgomery Group is also the organiser of the India Art Fair held in Delhi, Art Central in Hong Kong and Art SG in Singapore among others.
