Foundation bar stool by Bestcase
Dezeen Showroom: created by American brand Bestcase, the Foundation bar stool is designed to celebrate raw aluminium and simple manufacturing techniques.
The Foundation bar stool was designed by Bestcase co-founder Charles Constantine and released in 2022 as part of a collection built from aluminium sheet material.
In the bar stool, the scaled-up sheets are bent using a technique traditionally used to add structure to thinner materials, aiming to showcase the structural and decorative value of aluminium.
The stools are completed with mechanical connections and either a raw satin waxed aluminium finish or powder-coated colour.
Bestcase describes the Foundation bar stool as "an exercise in simplicity" and one that celebrates the material properties of aluminium.
The stool is customisable in height, depth and width, and the structure allows for seat backs and upholstery to be added to the frame.
The photography is by Matthew Gordon.
