Dezeen Showroom: British designer Samuel Ross took cues from brutalist architecture when creating Formation 02, a bright orange smart toilet made for bathroom brand Kohler.
Set to debut at this month's Milan design week, Formation 02 is the first toilet designed by Ross for Kohler.
The asymmetrical orange structure is made from composite resin and is defined by the sharp angles of brutalist architecture.
"Drawing inspiration from the velocity and power of water in nature, Formation 02 represents a radical approach to design language in this brutalist silhouette," said Kohler.
Although sculptural in form, the functional toilet includes several integrated technologies including a heated seat, a nightlight and a touchscreen remote for opening and flushing the toilet, as well as cleaning it.
Ross chose the striking orange hue in homage to Kohler's 1967 Tiger Lily colour, debuted in a bathroom line by the brand.
The smart toilet is Ross's latest design for Koher, completed with his industrial design studio SR_A, following the release of the bright orange Formation 01 tap at Design Miami last year.
Similarly to its predecessor, Formation 02 will be unveiled as part of a temporary installation at Milan design week.
