Promotion: Italian lighting brand iGuzzini has launched an updated version of its Spacepad track light that is double the length of its previous model.
The smart luminaire consists of flat lighting panels fixed to an electrified rail that can be rotated by 360 degrees in its vertical plane and slide along the track to provide flexible lighting to suit different activities.
The company said the goal was to designed to be "minimal, lightweight and flexible for a range of environments"
The updated version is a response to calls for more flexibility as building operators, company owners and HR departments make increasingly frequent tweaks to workplace environments.
Spacepad's new addition features not just a larger illuminating surface but is also the first product in the series with the freedom to move around without the need to reset it each time.
The built-in Organic Response technology means dimming and lighting parameters no longer have to be reprogrammed if the Spacepad is moved to a different location.
Each of the panels retains its settings even if it is disconnected and automatically communicates with the neighbouring modules to synchronise.
This allows the layout to be changed freely, facilitating greater freedom and collaboration in the workplace.
"This lighting solution is designed to enhance working environments, making them more comfortable and adaptable to continuous evolutions," iGuzzini said.
Like the other products in the Spacepad family, the extended light has a minimal, lightweight polycarbonate construction.
Integrated brightness and presence sensors combined with efficient LED lights combine to reduce the light's energy requirement by over 90 per cent, according to iGuzzini.
"Spacepad has a high visual comfort thanks to the patented Opti-diamond technology, capable of balancing the right luminance with high luminous efficiency values, therefore energy saving," the company said.
The lighting system can also be controlled by voice command or app, making it suitable for communal spaces.
"Spacepad reaches and exceeds 150 lumen/watts, builds a soft light that enhances the space and contributes to people's emotional and visual well-being," iGuzzini said.
The lights can be controlled wirelessly, using apps or voice commands. Other technology in this new version of the overhead lighting is a "Space Management" feature which reacts to information about how the space is used to optimise lighting and energy.
The new Spacepad is part of iGuzzini's new strategy, which under the title "light that moves" brings a renewed focus on using technology to create "deeply human-centric lighting".
