Pooran Desai and Anna Hollyman announced as Dezeen Awards 2024 judges

Architects Anna Hollyman and Eva-Marie Prineas, sustainability advocate Pooran Desai, entrepreneur Amit Gupta andArchitectureAU editor Linda Cheng have been named Dezeen Awards 2024 judges.

Thanks to everyone who entered Dezeen Awards 2024, in partnership with Bentley! We have received over 4,000 entries across 41 categories from all around the world.

Now in its seventh year, the programme has become the ultimate accolade for architects and designers everywhere, with winners selected by a prestigious panel of international judges.

Pooran Desai has dedicated his life to sustainable endeavours

Desai is a social entrepreneur, author, advisor and founder of digital platform One Planet and will be joining this year's sustainability judging panel.

One Planet is focused on revealing and developing the interconnections between our health, economy, climate, society and natural world, to create resilient and regenerative communities.

Desai coined the term One Planet Living, a vision of the world where we can live happily within the Earth's resources. He leads the initiative which works across all sectors including $30 billion dollars of zero carbon real estate in 30 countries.

The 10 guiding principles of One Planet Living served as the basis for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Anna Hollyman is a senior advisor at the UKGBC

Hollyman is an architect and senior advisor at the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) and will sit alongside London architect Andrew Waugh on our sustainability jury.

She is currently exploring the challenges, opportunities and benefits of retrofitting the UK's existing buildings towards net zero.

The UKGBC picked 17 "exemplary sustainable projects" for the Build Better Now virtual exhibition at COP26.

Amit Gupta founded STIR in 2014

Gupta is the founder and editor-in-chief of global media company STIR and will be joining our architecture judging panel.

STIR is an award-winning media house and curatorial agency committed to promoting creativity and innovation in the fields of architecture, design and art.

Gupta established Vis a vis, the first Indian design gallery in 1997 before reinventing the brand as STIR.

A curator and entrepreneur, Gupta has worked for three decades to facilitate collaborations across various creative disciplines and distant geographies.

Eva-Marie Prineas founded her eponymous practice in 2004

Prineas is the founder of Australian architecture practice Studio Prineas and will join Ben Edwards on our interiors judging panel.

The practice specialises in residential architecture with a strong focus on environmental responsibility.

Prineas has a passion for heritage conservation and recently added a concrete tower to a 19th-century fisherman's cottage in Sydney.

Linda Cheng is an architect and editor based in Australia

Cheng is the editor of Australian architecture magazine ArchitectureAU and will sit alongside Ali Bounds on this year's architecture jury.

She has contributed to Australian architecture and design magazines including Architecture Australia, Houses, Artichoke, DQ and the National Gallery of Victoria's Gallery magazine.

Longlisting

Longlisting, the first stage of the judging process, will start next week and continue until the end of July.

The longlists will be announced on Dezeen between 9 and 12 September. Each longlisted entry gets its page on the Dezeen Awards website.

Shortlisting

The shortlisting stage of the judging process will take place in August. It will involve our prestigious panel of judges, who will select a shortlist of five entries in each project category using an online scoring system.

We'll be announcing all shortlisted projects on Dezeen from 7 to 14 October and we'll be in touch then to let you know if you've been shortlisted.

Master jury day

A selection of judges from architecture, interiors, design and sustainability will gather in September to confirm the suggested project category winners and select overall Project of the Year winners from the architecture, interiors, design and sustainability categories.

The master jury panel will also select the Bentley Lighthouse Award winner, celebrating an individual whose contribution has significantly benefited social and environmental sustainability, inclusivity, and/or community empowerment. This award is nomination-only and our judges will shortlist names – it is not possible to enter this award.
