Dezeen Showroom: British company Karndean Designflooring has expanded its Art Select collection, adding 39 vinyl flooring designs that reference sought-after wood and stone types.
The Art Select collection was designed to celebrate natural landscapes and building materials – among the new tile designs are European oak and English ash wood, as well as recreations of precious stones like marble, onyx and Ceppo di Gré, a rustic style of terrazzo.
All of the tiles come in a range of colours and sizes – including a new slimlink plank, large herringbone and basketweave – and can be combined and hand-cut to make inventive layouts.
Among the offerings is Damask oak, a warm blond wood-look tile with an unfinished effect, and a series that mimics Persian onyx, a stone that doesn't usually feature on flooring due to its fragility and porosity.
Karndean Designflooring managing director Fleur Carson said that the new collection "pushes the boundaries of flooring design", with precise colouration, surface embossing and bevel detailing.
"Our designers have travelled extensively to find unique samples of wood and stone that exhibit the most beautiful features of each natural material, from the interesting wood knots and grains of Spanish holm oak to the iconic veining of Italian and Greek marbles and the pearlescence of Persian onyx," said Carson.
