Six architecture and design events in October from Dezeen Events Guide
Dutch Design Week, Archtober and Design Week South Africa are among the key architecture, design and art events featured in Dezeen Events Guide this October.
Other events taking place during the month include Designblok, Design Week Lagos and Designart Tokyo.
Archtober
1 to 31 October, USA
The 14th edition of the annual Archtober event takes place across New York City throughout October. Under the theme Tracing the Future, the event aims to explore the future of design, landscaping, housing and infrastructure in New York.
Hosted in collaboration with over 100 partners, it includes exhibitions, talks, tours, workshops and screenings across museums, parks and cultural organisations.

Designblok
2 to 6 October, Czech Republic
Taking place in venues including Prague Castle, Prague Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts, this year's Designblok is the annual festival's 26th edition.
Events take place over five days and are split into two categories – Superstudio, which highlights the work of brands and manufacturers, and Openstudio, which focuses on pioneering designers, studios and students.

Design Week South Africa
10 to 13 and 24 to 27 October, South Africa
This year the inaugural Design Week South Africa will take place over two weekends in October. The first will be focused on Johannesburg with the second set in Cape Town.
It will platform local design talent alongside established and emerging design brands. According to the organisers, the event is hoped to create connections between individuals and foster collaboration, as well as enhance the status of local businesses.
Design Week Lagos
16 to 27 October, Nigeria
Taking place in Nigeria, Design Week Lagos will contain a series of exhibitions, design fairs and talks spread over over 12 days.
The event includes the DWL Design and Innovation Exhibition, which is curated by architect and designer Charles O Job and showcases both design objects and furniture.
Dutch Design Week
19 to 27 October, the Netherlands
One of the year's most significant design festivals, the annual Dutch Design Week, will see a programme of exhibitions, talks, seminars, performances, films and workshops taking place over nine days.
The expansive programme focuses on numerous design disciplines, such as food, product, graphics, landscape, material, fashion and game, as well as art, architecture and technology.
Designart Tokyo
18 to 27 October, Japan
One of Japan's largest art and design festivals, Designart Tokyo takes place across galleries and shops for nine days at the end of the month.
This year the event, which has been running since 2017, will showcase art and design that evoke sentiment under the theme called Emotions.
