Dezeen has announced the design shortlist for this year's Dezeen Awards, which includes designs by Arper, Joseph Joseph, Snøhetta and Humanscale.
The 59 shortlisted studios, which are in the running for awards in eleven different design project categories, are located across 25 different countries including Cyprus, Israel, Japan, Ukraine, New Zealand and Italy.
The top three represented studio countries are the United Kingdom with 14 shortlisted entries, followed by the USA with eight and the Netherlands with six.
Shortlisted projects include a range of curved lights crafted from single steel sheets by Sissel Warringa for Frandsen and a colourful skyscraper utilising architectural lighting in Shenzhen.
Amongst this year's seating design shortlist are two projects that utilise wood including a curved plywood seat by Barber Osgerby for Fredericia and a folding chair made from lacquered oak by Jonas Forsman for Nikari.
Dezeen Awards 2024 shortlists revealed this week
Dezeen Awards 2024, in partnership with Bentley, will reveal all shortlisted projects this week. The architecture and interiors shortlist was announced earlier this week, and the sustainability shortlist will be published tomorrow.
This year's nomination-based Designers of the Year and Bentley Lighthouse Award shortlists will be announced this Friday and next Monday respectively.
"The design longlist showcases a strong appreciation for craftsmanship and sustainability, with many designers also recognising the importance that good design has on improving wellbeing," said Chris Cooke, head of design collaborations at Bentley.
"Bentley is proud to continue championing design excellence in its partnership with Dezeen Awards, and this shortlist demonstrates the trend for more thoughtful relationships between people and their possessions."
The shortlisted projects were scored by our design jury ,which includes artists Faye Toogood and Pilar Zeta, fashion designer Ozwald Boateng, alongside designers Tej Chauhan, Jasper Morrison and Inga Sempé.

The winner of each project category will be announced live at our annual Dezeen Awards party on Tuesday 26 November at Hackney Church in London. All eleven winners will then compete for the title of design project of the year, which is sponsored by Gaggenau.
