Hot Chip co-founder Joe Goddard set to headline Dezeen Awards 2024 party

Dezeen Awards, in partnership with Bentley, has announced artist and DJ Joe Goddard as the headline act for the Dezeen Awards 2024 party in London on 26 November.

Taking place at Hackney Church, a sensitively restored Grade II-listed building renovated by minimalist designer John Pawson has welcomed artists such as Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran and Emeli Sandé and is now set to host Goddard for the design event of the year.

On the night, Dezeen will announce the winners of this year's Dezeen Awards with canapes, champagne, and celebrations into the night with a headline DJ set from Goddard featuring new music from the musician's latest solo album, Harmonics.

British musician Goddard, who is best known as co-founder of Hot Chip and member of electronica group The 2 Bears and Hard Feelings, will star at the eighth annual Dezeen Awards ceremony.

Goddard will feature new music from his recently released third solo album Harmonics which incorporates a variety of genre influences from garage, house, hip-hop, pop and disco. The album also spotlights a diverse range of collaborators including Tom McFarland of London dance-pop group Jungle, the voice of Ibibio Sound Machine’s Eno Williams, Guinean vocalist Falle Nioke and jazz musician Alabaster DePlume.

Goddard described the album as "an unbridled celebration of compassion, collaboration, and creation."

"Part of the reason I wanted to call this Harmonics is that I was trying to create something very inclusive and empathetic, something harmonious,"

Setting the scene for Goddard's headline performance, London-based creative team Hingston Studio will design the overall show and set for this year's party taking inspiration from the vibrant, abstract forms and striking colours of this year's identity created by graphic designer Micha Weidmann.

The studio, led by Tom Hingston, specialises in motion, design and creative direction. It has delivered campaigns for global brands including Apple, Dior and Alexander McQueen, cultural institutions such as The Serpentine and V&A, as well as working with an array of renowned international musicians including Massive Attack, Grace Jones and the late David Bowie.

"A unique palette of light and project image"

"It was important that our approach worked seamlessly with the existing architecture, avoiding additional structure or set builds through the use of light and atmospherics to transform the space in an exciting way," Hingston told Dezeen Awards.

"Harnessing the interior skin as our canvas, we’ve created a physical expression of the award's identity – a deconstruction of layers achieved through a unique palette of light and projected image."

Before unveiling the winners, guests will be treated to a Perrier-Jouët champagne reception followed by canapes and bowl food from leading London-based creative caterer Jimmy Garcia.

Garcia aims to source the majority of its ingredients within a 10-mile radius, meaning guests at the Dezeen Awards 2024 party will be offered a local, seasonal and sustainable culinary experience. Garcia's ethos has gained international recognition working with brands from Google, Facebook, Netflix and Vogue to locations spanning Somerset House, Old Billingsgate, and Kensington Palace.
