Center Center by String Furniture

String Furniture and Form Us With Love collaborate on storage system

Promotion: Swedish brand String Furniture has worked with design studio Form Us With Love on Center Center, a modular storage system made from perforated steel that can be adapted to suit workplaces and public spaces.

Center Center was designed to be multifunctional and flexible, allowing it to adapt to different interiors. Early prototypes of the minimalist storage system were first seen at design festival 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen. Center Center will have its official European unveiling at DesignPost during Orgatec in Köln.

The idea behind Center Center was to reflect the constantly changing needs of modern workplaces. "The new office environment needs to adapt to different needs at different times," said Jonas Petterson, Form Us With Love co-founder.

The system was a response to the fluid demands of workspaces following the Covid pandemic. "Center Center was designed for the modern/future office where flexibility is key," Bo Hellberg, CMO String Furniture, said.

Form Us With Love designed the collection to "empower interior designers". The studio had, in fact, developed Center Center for its own workplace, testing and iterating the system's different configurations with varying demands.

"Our aim is to provide a system for the unimaginable," said Jonas Pettersson. "We want to empower interior designers and creative specifiers to really unleash their creativity and explore the endless possibilities of this storage solution."

"Whether it's organising an office, a home or a public space, this system offers the flexibility and adaptability needed to meet the demands of modern life," they added.

Center Center is comprised of thin sheet metal plates, which have been perforated in a 50x50x50 millimetre grid. This creates a pattern that gives the storage system a minimalist, industrial look.

It also lets users add hooks or other storage solutions directly to the furniture, creating more opportunities to adapt the modules. The modules are available in eight colours and six different sizes, to let users design custom-made storage solutions.

All sizes and colours can be combined both horizontally and vertically, and String Furniture can also create bespoke colours for the storage modules on request.

Form Us With Love also designed a number of accessories for Center Center.

These include doors, shelves, legs, castors, trays, handles and hooks that give the designs even more adaptability and let users, for example, design storage solutions that can easily be wheeled between different rooms.

"Launching Center Center opens a new and exciting chapter for String Furniture," said String Furniture CMO Bo Hellberg.

"It's a system we believe sets a real benchmark, with a very modern approach to modularity combined with a bold attitude in design," he added.

Made in Sweden, Center Center is constructed using industrial welding and bending techniques. It was designed to challenge conventional office interior design, the designers said.

Among String Furniture's other designs is its small shelving system, The Pocket and an interconnecting system of drawers, Relief.

String Furniture was set up in 2004 by Peter Erlandsson and Pär Josefsson, building on the back of its iconic String shelf, originally designed in 1949 by design couple Kajsa and Nisse Strinning.
