Converse
Last year footwear brand Converse redesigned its iconic canvas basketball shoe and this year the popularity of that story has propelled the brand to number 81 in our inaugural Dezeen Hot List.
The rethink of the Chuck Taylor All Star – the first major rethink of the sneaker since it was launched almost a century ago - was one of our most popular footwear stories of the year, with almost 70,000 page views.
A movie explaining how the shoe has been made more comfortable thanks to material innovations by parent company Nike was also popular, as was the later redesign of the equally iconic 1920 All Star shoe.
The resurgence of interest in Converse no doubt also led to the popularity of a story from back in 2012 about a collection designed for the brand by late Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
