Watch Alison Brooks and Jacob Kurek discuss performance spaces at World Architecture Festival 2017
Architects Alison Brooks and Jacob Kurek spoke on the theme of performance spaces in the second talk Dezeen streamed from World Architecture Festival 2017 in Berlin.
Alison Brooks, founder of Alison Brooks Architects, is the Architects’ Journal architect of the year, and was the recent winner of the Women in Architecture award. Her studio completed the Quarterhouse performing arts centre in Folkestone in 2009, and was shortlisted to design a cultural quarter at the London 2012 Olympic Park that would include an outpost of the Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
Jacob Kurek is a partner at Danish practice Henning Larsen, and leads the studio’s international projects. Henning Larsen’s Harpa concert building in Reykjavik, a collaboration with artist Olafur Eliasson, won the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2013.
Dezeen was media partners for World Architecture Festival 2017, which this year took place in Berlin in conjunction with the Inside festival of interior design.
We broadcasted a number of talks and seminars from both events – including talks by Francis Kéré and Pierre de Meuron – as well as conducted video interviews with the winners.
World Architecture Festival took place from 15-17 November 2017 at Arena Berlin. Take a look at the full programme.
