Dezeen promotion: Russian designer Dima Loginoff mimics the curvaceous form of bells with this pendant lamp for Czech lighting brand Preciosa.

Called Siren, the light was launched by Preciosa at the Maison&Objet furniture fair in Paris earlier this year.

It comprises three bell-shaped forms with different sizes and transparencies, which have been layered over one another.

These bells come in different mixes of shades – from dark grey to brighter tones of rose pink – to create what the designer describes as "an enchanting combination of colours".

"My point was to counter the traditional with the modern and unique… that's always the challenge for my imagination," said Loginoff.

"Fantasy inspired me to design this eye-catching suspension, yet it's simple, stylish and minimal."

The lamp is made from hand-blown glass and finished with a frosted surface, to emit a softer quality of light. Glass spheres are affixed to each end, adding decoration to the design.

Siren is the first collaboration between Preciosa and Loginoff, who is based in Moscow and has previously created lighting pieces for brands such as Studio Italia Design and Artemide.

The light will form part of Preciosa's Solitaires collection –  a range of contemporary lights that stands in contrast to the ornate chandeliers that the brand has been producing since 1724.

"Building on centuries of glassmaking tradition and extensive international design experience, we are dedicated to connecting with individuals the world over who are looking for a statement lighting piece," said Preciosa's vice president, Vojta Malina.

The Siren collection will also be displayed in the Breath of Light exhibition at the Salone del Mobile furniture fair, taking place in Milan from 17 to 22 April 2018.
