Bamboo Sports Hall in Chiang Mai, Thailand, combines modern organic design with 21st century engineering.
The design of this sports hall, conceived to hold about 300 students, is based on the lotus flower. The hall covers 782 square metres, and hosts basketball, volleyball, badminton and futsal – a variation of football. As well as courts, there is a stage, storage room, and balconies that provide space for visitors to observe sporting events or shows. The design and material provide a cool and pleasant climate all year round through natural ventilation and insulation. The building maintains the “Green School” mission of Panyaden and has zero carbon footprint.
