Shortlisted for urban house of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, Tiny Tower is a 38 feet tall five-story house by ISA.
The slender five-storey house in a developing neighbourhood in Philadelphia is a housing prototype for tiny vacant lots that are otherwise typically used as expanded backyards or accessory parking. The design promotes vertical living for both indoor and outdoor space, occupying the entire footprint of the site with a low level garden, a terrace and a roof deck. ISA's narrow tower is built like a mini-skyscraper, using a steel-reinforced wood frame that is clad in painted metal across its exterior. Windows take up large portions of the street facade. ISA aims to demonstrate through Tiny Tower how small scale architecture can feel large in amenity and experience.
