Shortlisted for hotel and short stay interior of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, ℃ (Do-C) Gotanda by Jo Nagasaka/Schemata Architects is a capsule hotel providing both sauna facilities and accommodation.

Located in one of Tokyo's red light districts, spaces were created by completely overhauling the interiors of the building, which was previously also a capsule hotel. The existing capsules remain as whilst the former public bath in the basement was renovated and turned into a sauna and shower room.

Existing wallpaper was removed and newly built walls were left unfinished to create a contrast between the existing capsule units and the bare interior.
