Shortlisted for residential rebirth project of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, North Melbourne Terrace is a heritage-listed Victorian house by Matt Gibson Architecture + Design.

The project by Matt Gibson Architecture + Design explores the deconstruction and reconstruction of this 19th century house into a modern home. The design approach was one of revealing and restoring where possible whilst evolving the existing red-brick structure. The studio also added a two-storey rear extension made from brick and glass, supported by a steel-frame. This extension, while in keeping with the original building's red brickwork, modernises the house through a geometric roofline and a projecting metal window frame.
