Shortlisted for civic building of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, Oasis Terraces by Serie Architects and Multiply Architects is a 27,000 square metre community centre and terraced garden in Punggol.

Developed by Singapore’s Housing and Development Board to serve its public housing neighbourhoods, Oasis Terraces aims to reinvent what a community centre is in a high-density city and represent a new generation of community centres for Singapore. The centre contains health, retail and communal facilities and an expansive sloping green space allows views, light and air to penetrate the building, whilst a canal-side four-storey platform creates as a large sheltered plaza. Landscape acts as a connective element in which garden elements frame community space. The structure's open facades reference the design of the surrounding late 20th century housing blocks and are intended to lend the building a sense of openness that emphasises its public-serving purpose.
