Shortlisted for homeware design of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, Backstitch is a collection of three rugs by Raw-Edges that explores hidden beauty.

Made by hand by GAN's Women’s Unit, the rugs are made from wool using embroidery and a technique called kilim. The rugs turn traditional embroidery upside-down and attempts to vindicate, in a delicate and elegant way, what is often hidden. The collection consists of three consecutive designs – a conceptual progression that adds stitching and complexity to the piece along the way.
