Expo 2020 is an international festival in Dubai that features a series of events, including exhibitions, pavilions, networking sessions and lectures.
Dates
Expo 2020 is open to the public from 1 October to 31 March 2022.
Expo 2020 was originally meant to take place from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, but was postponed due to Covid-19.
Theme
Despite being rescheduled to 2021, Expo 2020 retains its original name and is themed Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.
Exhibitions
Expo 2020 sees 190 countries participating in showcasing exhibitions and pavilions that showcase art, culture, geography, science, technology and innovation.
Three main pavilions are designed by leading architectural studios with the sub-themes Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
The Opportunity pavilion is designed by AGi Architects, the Mobility pavilion is designed by Foster + Partners and the Sustainability pavilion was created by Grimshaw Architects.
The festival is organised by Reem Al Hashimi.
Opening times
For the sixth months that Expo 2020 is running, the festival will be open from 10:00 am to 00:00 am on weekdays for seven days a week.
On weekends and certain special days, the expo will be open from 10:00 am to 02:00 am.
Covid-19 precautions
The temperature of each visitor will be checked with thermal cameras at arrival points.
Visitors are required to wear face masks at all times and maintain at least two metres between other people at the festival in line with social distancing measures.
Hand sanitiser is provided at intervals throughout the site, and all venues and common areas are regularly sanitised by members of staff.
Specialist staff are working onsite to adhere to any potential medical needs.
