INAX reveals new bathroom collection in Dezeen video for VDF
This captioned video produced by Dezeen for INAX as part of Virtual Design Festival reveals the Japanese brand's new bathroom collection, which celebrates light and shadows.
An addition to its S600 LINE range, the latest products from the water technology brand include minimalist washbasins, faucets, baths and shower-toilets in reflective white and matte black finishes.
Textured ceramic wall tiles developed in Japan's famed pottery town of Tokoname also feature in the new concept.
INAX drew upon the appreciation of natural light and shadows in Japanese culture for the collection, which is designed to turn the bathroom into a relaxing and rejuvenating space.
"As we move from light to shadow, we transcend an unseen boundary that takes us to a place of deep tranquility," explained Yasuhiro Shirai, who is vice president of design at LIXIL Water Technology Japan.
"As we shift back to the light, we return to a place of clarity and energy," he said.
In addition to exploring the transformative properties of light and shadow, the designs also reimagine traditional Japanese water rituals.
The rainfall shower, for example, is designed to recreate the sensation of meditating beneath a waterfall, which is referred to in Japanese as taki-gyo.
Meanwhile, the bathtub aims to recreate a state of relaxation that you achieve in Japanese hot springs.
This video was produced by Dezeen for INAX as part of Virtual Design Festival after the brand's intended Milan Design Week launch was cancelled due to coronavirus.
