Tsuruta Architects has extended a conservatory in London, adding a faceted timber and glass roof.

This contemporary timber-frame construction is a light-filled, temperate addition to a Grade II-listed house, and an integral part of the garden whilst complimenting its historical context.

Facilitated by digital fabrication, the design form of the distinctive faceted timber and glass roof evolved from the site constraint that limited the roof pitch.

The pale wood interior provides the backdrop for the shadows cast by the diagrid roof throughout the day and contrasts to the exterior cladding of charred wood planks.

This project has been longlisted in the residential rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
