Design studio AYTM has designed a lamp inspired by an old Danish church in Copenhagen.
The powder-coated steel gives the table lamp a solid finish, which represents strength and stability — just like castle gates and church portals.
The matte-white plastic profile allows the dimmable LED light on the inside to shine through. The gold-plated ball draws associations to stars in the sky, as well as the round window by the entrance of Grundtvigs church.
The golden ball functions as the on ⁄off switch; raising the ball towards the top will increase the light gradually.
This project has been longlisted in the lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
