Destilat Design Studio has designed a lounge in the former workshop of a historical Alpine chalet.

The premise for this concept was a respectful approach towards the original substance, for example the conservation of the workshop's existing floor with its decades-old patina, as well as the original steel girders.

All newly introduced wood elements were treated in accordance with the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method.

All of this creates a timeless, modern Alpine ambience that respects the existing inventory, without getting anywhere near a usually fairly common "lederhosen-style".

This project has been longlisted in the small interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
