Case-Real has converted a former dry cleaner into a minimal sushi restaurant in Fukuoka, Japan.

The site was a former dry cleaner in a wood structure with an uneven exterior wall line and roof shape, in comparison to the shape of the land.

The studio has designed a counter-type sushi restaurant where the chef can stand in the centre. The counter is curved parallel to the line of the exterior wall to maintain maximum seatings in its small setting.

This project has been longlisted in the small interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
