Shortlisted for residential rebirth project of the year at Dezeen Awards 2020, Casa Altinho is a former warehouse that has been converted into a home with a perforated brick shell along Lisbon's waterfront.

The project is called Casa Altinho, which means "High House", referencing the street's elevated position.

The design draws on the historic importance of the local warehouses by maintaining the existing structure and integrating it into the new design, instead of completely replacing it.

The three-storey home features a lattice-like brick volume that has been inserted into the stone shell of the warehouse, which has created a series of "in-between" terraces and voids.

The red-brick and original stone walls contrast the interiors, which are accented by dark wooden window frames and furniture.
