Ambiguo type-05 light by Saarepera & Mae
Dezeen Showroom: online concept shop NID is showcasing the sculptural and mobile Ambiguo type-05 pendant light designed by Estonian studio Saarepera & Mae.
The Ambiguo type-05 is a chandelier-style fixture with four metals arms, each capped with a sphere that is positioned to emit light either inward or outward.
According to Saarepera & Mae, the light was designed as an elegant statement piece that has a "modernist tone and revives mid-century vibes".
Each Ambiguo type-05 fixture is handcrafted – from the mouth-blown Murano glass globes to the frame, which is rendered in either steel or aluminium and can be painted black or white.
The metal arms are mobile, allowing the fixture to be moved and installed at various angles.
"[Saarepera & Mae's] minimal, black and white lighting collection Ambiguo is born from the exploration of symmetry and asymmetry," explained NID.
"The pieces embody many levels of geometrical balance and unbalance, depending on how they are perceived."
The wider Ambiguo collection includes four other light fixtures, all of which are powered by dimmable LEDs and can be rendered in custom materials and finishes on request.
