Ginger lamppost by Joan Gaspar for Marset
Dezeen Showroom: Spanish brand Marset has launched the Ginger lamppost, a three-metre-high floor light designed by Joan Gaspar to softly illuminate outdoor spaces.
Gaspar, who is head of design at Marset, envisioned the Ginger lamppost with a slender stem made from lacquered steel and a matt black, 60-centimetre-wide aluminium shade.
Painted white on the inside, this is designed to emit soft, indirect light without glare while offering a pared-back silhouette that Marset describes as "beautiful even when off".
"Lighting should not be invasive, it should complement the environment," explained Gaspar.
"It should transmit beauty whether on or off, with the aim to accompany and seduce the user. In the end, we all seek a balance in where we would like to live."
The lamppost is the centrepiece of the brand's newly expanded Ginger collection, which was previously limited to indoor lighting made from wood.
The updated range also introduces an outdoor floor lamp and wall sconces.
