Sierra Collection by Tsar Carpets
Dezeen Showroom: the world's rugged and arid landscapes inspired the flooring in the Sierra Collection, from Australian brand Tsar Carpets.
The Melbourne-based brand calls the Sierra Collection "an exploration in woven process and natural textures", because all of the designs started as artistic experiments by their in-house designer Charlotte McGeehan and were digitally translated for broadloom Axminster carpet production.
"The Sierra Collection was first and foremost inspired by Iceland's historic and impressive female-led weaving industry and the natural beauty of the country's stark and craggy landscape," said McGeehan. "That investigation further spurred interest in bringing to life additional rugged and arid landscapes worldwide."
"The ultimate goal of the collection is to ground the end user, while providing a high-performing and luxuriously comfortable experience underfoot," she continued.
The flooring collection comes in five patterns: Weathered, Loam, Parko, Terra and Remnant. The effects range from sweeping brushstrokes in the glacier-like Weathered to desert rockiness in Terra, which carries the faint impression of poolside "crazy paving" in Palm Springs.
Intended for hospitality, commercial and residential projects, the Sierra range is made with 80 per cent New Zealand wool for a durable finish.
