Dezeen Showroom: Italian furniture company Mara has created a large space-saving table that can be quickly and easily folded away for storage.

When open, the Argo Libro table is three metres long. But it can be compacted to less than 40 centimetres in width when not in use.

"Libro is an important project born out of a desire to enrich the space-saving table collections with a vertical solution that could take advantage of the height," Mara explained.

Designed for conferences and meetings but also as a single workstation, the table can safely be stored away thanks to Mara's patented anti-shock system.

"We wanted to create a large, multifunctional table that could be folded away in the smallest possible space and in complete safety," explained Mara.

"That's why we set ourselves the goal of creating something unique, not available on the market, by creating an anti-finger-crushing system that we later patented."

Agro Libro is available with various tops including round, oval and whiteboard options, as well as in numerous colours including black, anthracite and natural oak.
