Outdoor seating, lighting and tables by Dedon feature on Dezeen Showroom
Furniture brand Dedon is showcasing five collections of outdoor furniture and lighting on Dezeen Showroom, including lanterns, lounge chairs and side tables by designers including Stephen Burks and Sebastian Herkner.
Across the different collections, Dedon is presenting a number of products by New York designer Burks that were all made using traditional Filipino craft techniques.
Other collections include a range of outdoor seating created by Germany-based Herkner and a series of woven side tables by Italian designer Lorenza Bozzoli.
Herkner has designed a family of outdoor seating called MBRACE for Dedon, which includes daybeds, lounge chairs, armchairs and rocking chairs, as well as coffee tables, side tables and a footstool.
The collection is characterised by its woven shell that has been designed to evoke the sense of being embraced. The synthetic fibre chosen for the seats was selected for its ability to withstand various weather conditions, while the frame is rendered in either teak wood or aluminium finished with a powder coating for easy maintenance.
Burks created a number of collections for Dedon, including a range of 12 outdoor lanterns called The Others.
The lights, which have been designed using Dedon's signature hand-woven technique, can be used independently or arranged one on top of the other to create totem-like stacks.
The lanterns in the versatile collection come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and can be used either freestanding with a milled marble base or hung as pendant lights.
Also designed by Burks is KIDA, a lightweight swinging lounge chair distinguished by its curved nest-like frame made from aluminium rods. Available in three striped colourways, the chair also features a plush cushion that can be removed.
The chair is wrapped in vibrant weather-resistant cords of synthetic rope, which Dedon says is recyclable and non-toxic. KIDA is also the first product by the brand to be wrapped, rather than woven, in its proprietary material called Fibre Touch.
Dala is a family of outdoor seating including lounge chairs, club chairs and sofas created by Burks, which are available in five different colourways named after various locations.
The Dala range also comprises side tables, coffee tables, lanterns and planters that all use the same artisanal weaving technique as Dedon's other products.
The collection features plush UV-resistant cushions affixed to a powder-coated aluminium mesh frame that has been interlaced with colourful fabric strips.
Each chair is designed to be lightweight so that it can be easily transported to various outdoor locations, such as the beach or around the patio.
As its name suggests, Porcini is a collection of side tables by Milan-based designer Bozzoli that have been designed to bear a resemblance to porcini mushrooms. The family of tables includes side tables and coffee tables, which all feature a woven base made from fibre and rope, as well as a handcrafted ceramic tabletop.
These tabletops, which are available in an array of colours including black, taupe, terra or nori, are all scratch-proof and shock-resistant. The tables come in a variety of sizes and can be used individually or arranged in clusters of varying heights and colours.
Established in 1990, Dedon is an outdoor furniture brand known for its trademarked weatherproof synthetic fibre that is wrapped or woven into its furniture using a traditional weaving technique native to the Philippine Island of Cebu.
The brand regularly collaborates closely with leading designers, including London design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, French designer Philippe Starck and Danish studio GamFratesi. Its products range from lighting, tables, chairs, sofas and accessories designed for outdoor settings.
Headquartered in Germany, the company has production facilities in the Philippines and offices in Hong Kong and the US, as well as showrooms located across the globe.
