Spanish architecture studio FRPO has wrapped the car park Estación San José in a metal screen.
Estación San José is a mixed-use infrastructure in the city of Toluca de Lerdo.
The project is placed in the northern edge of Avenida Juarez, creating a new cultural, economic and activity hub, a social condenser overlapping community programs: car park, office and co-working areas, cultural and commercial spaces and a public-access garden at the rooftop. The result is a very flexible infrastructure that expects to be occupied by different types of users.
A naked concrete super-structure relates to the urban surroundings. Continuous slabs are folded to create the parking area. A gentle lightweight metallic skin encloses the resulting volume.
This project has been longlisted in the business building category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
