Ungnyeo is a character in the myth of Dangun (the story of the founding of ancient Korea). She was a bear, but she became human after spending days it a pitch-black cave, eating only wormwood and garlic. She is the mother of Dangun Wanggeom, the father of our people.
Based on the myth of Dangun, the architects built a temple for her, to celebrate her pure heart and appearance that reached humanity. The ‘Temple of Ungnyeo’ will offer complimentary cups of wormwood tea, which will purify one’s body, and an overall experience that will align one’s body and mind.
This project has been longlisted in the restaurant and bar interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
