The church is to be felt like God's warm and grand embracement, so ground studio utilised a large curvature that surrounds the whole interior of the architecture.
The imaginary ground is made by hollowed columns in the space, and the curved surface is revealed by excavating the interior, as if subterranean. 500 column sections wrap around the worshippers in a pair of parabolic lines.
The intersecting curvature lines form pointed-arch shapes running down the walls. In particular, the three arches behind the pulpit represent the holy trinity, wanting people to connect with a reminiscing motif from the Old Church.
This project has been longlisted in the civic and cultural interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
