Jes Paone designs the Desert Series, a range of collectible porcelain and brass light fixtures using a unique porcelain fabrication technique developed by his paternal Aunt, the ceramicist Anne Paone.

The Desert Series recalls the texture of a dried out desert lake bed, opaque and white. Through years of experimentation in translucency, they were able to produce a mysterious quality when internally lit. Each piece is a handmade one of a kind object that embraces the flaws and accidents inherent in the craft and process of making, adopting the wabi-sabi ethos.

This project has been longlisted in the lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
