Longlisted for Dezeen Awards 2021 design studio of the year, Chila Kumari Burman has pushed the limits of creative experimentation across print, collage, paint, sculpture, photography and mixed media for over 25 years.

My design studio is a busy one and one that I run alone! Specialising in traditional printmaking, photocopy art, painting, drawing, video, music, digital media, sculpture, installation, mural painting and photography my studio embodies the way I practice art.

Wild, messy, surreal, zen, feminist, anarchic, layered, blinged up and always sharply interrogating the influences of politics in our world.

Being true to myself is my priority, and I use my studio and practice to address my family and cultural heritage, social justice, identity, community, race, class and gender in today's increasingly uncertain and challenging world.

This project has been longlisted in the design studio of the year category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
