A face mask is inspired by the award-winning SANAA-designed River building at Grace Farms, which features an iconic undulating roof that reflects light differently in response to time and weather.
Designed by Shohei Yoshida, Principal of shohei yoshida + associates/sy+a/ formerly of SANAA, and Peter Miller, Founding Partner of Palette Architecture/formerly of Handel Architects, the ethically manufactured Design for Freedom face mask features an iconic undulating roof that reflects light differently in response to time and weather.
The mask's artisanal weave creates a gradient pattern and soft luminescence that shifts according to light and the fabric’s texture. The mask raises awareness of Design for Freedom, a new movement to eradicate modern slavery from the building materials supply chain.
This project has been longlisted in the wearable design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
