Drawing Fields is a temporary performance venue on the campus of Ragdale, a nonprofit artists' community just north of Chicago.
Drawing Fields utilises GPS-controlled field marking robots to draw site-specific, building-scale drawings on the Ragdale campus. We proposed this year’s ring as a series of temporal performances rather than a conventional installation and mounted the project on a fraction of the traditional budget. There are no disposal costs or waste. Each drawing is water-soluble, non-toxic, and disappears with rain, sun, and growth. Within a few weeks, the site is ready for the next ring.
This project has been shortlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
