Promotion: as part of Milan design week, guests will be able to take a virtual tour of an exhibition of Swedish design located within a hyper-realistic digital version of Sweden's Sara kulturhus, one of the world's tallest timber structures.

Titled Swedish Design Movement – Leading the way, the exhibition is organised by Svensk Form and the Swedish Institute through the Swedish government initiative Swedish Design Movement and is produced and designed by digital design store and gallery Adorno.

It will launch on the project's dedicated website on 7 June during Milan design week and will feature the work of 18 sustainability-driven Swedish brands working across the fields of product design, architecture and fashion.

Designed by White Arkitekter and completed last year in Skellefteå, northern Sweden, Sara kulturhus is a timber development featuring the world's second-tallest wooden tower. The multifunctional, 20-storey building is constructed from wood from the forests surrounding the town. It houses a theatre, gallery, library, museum and a hotel.

Virtual visitors from across the globe will be able to tour a digital version of the building that will enable them to walk up the grand staircase past works by Swedish companies such as David design, Fogia, Reform Design Lab, and VERK.

Fashion pieces by A NEW SWEDEN, Atacac, maxjenny! and Swedish Stockings will be on display in the virtual building's main hall as will architecture projects by Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects, Kjellander Sjöberg, Tham/Videgård, White Arkitekter, and Wingårdhs.

Each featured project can be viewed as a material-true 3D model while images, texts, and videos provide more information about the works and the companies behind them.

In the cinema, visitors can delve even deeper into seven design- and sustainability-driven companies through a series of videos created by Note Design Studio and filmmaker Carl Engberg.

Swedish Design Movement hopes that the virtual exhibition will offer design enthusiasts a museum experience without the hassle of "transportation, travels, or long lines".

Swedish Design Movement is managed by the Swedish Institute in collaboration with Architects Sweden, the Swedish Fashion Association, the Swedish Federation of Wood and Furniture Industry, the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design (Svensk Form), Swedish cities, regions and other partners.

Its mission is to build an attractive platform for industry players that want to strengthen their international presence and promote global sustainable development, which also benefits Swedish exports.
