Holly lamp by Runa Klock and Hallgeir Homstvedt for Abstracta
Dezeen Showroom: designers Runa Klock and Hallgeir Homstvedt have created an acoustic lamp featuring a sculptural cluster of orbs, for Abstracta.
Holly is made up of several large spheres – some covered with soft, tactile fabric and some glowing with light.
The luminous orbs are made of milk glass, while the sound-absorbing ones are filled with textile scraps and encased in a 3D-knitted custom melange fabric.
Homstvedt said that he and Klock wanted to avoid creating a lamp that was easily identifiable as an acoustic product and looked to the holly bush as inspiration.
"Runa and I approached the concept from a different angle," said Homstvedt. "Our ambition was to create a beautiful object that also happens to be really functional."
Holly is available in two versions – a vertical pendant for high-ceiling spaces and corners, and a horizontal pendant for over tables – in either anthracite, terracotta or light grey colours. It is also possible to order a bespoke design.
