Växjö Train Station and Town Hall in Sweden is a hub of design and industry.
This project co-locates a new town hall and a train station to give Växjö municipality a sustainable face lift and greater access to civic functions. The municipality has a tradition of wooden buildings, and it was a matter of course that the station would also be built in that material. The building has a wooden frame of cross-glued wooden elements and a column beam construction of wood.
The sustainability aspects have been a focus during the design and permeated the entire project. The new station and municipal building is certified and meets high demands on materials and energy consumption.
This project has been longlisted in the civic building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
