Invisible Studio designed East Quay, Watchet in Somerset, UK.
This project was built for the creative community of Watchet, Somerset. East Quay was born out of eight years of research and was the recipient of the largest Coastal Communities Fund grant to date.
Designed by Invisible Studio for the Onion Collective CIC – a local female-led, not-for-profit social enterprise that raised £7.3 million to design and build the project – the space provides a new cultural anchor for the town and surrounding areas.
East Quay features two contemporary art galleries, 11 artist studios, a paper mill, a geology workshop, a print studio, education spaces, bookshops, restaurants and five accommodation pods.
A year after its grand opening, East Quay stands proud as a beacon of creativity, home to painters and carpenters, geologists and printmakers, displaying exhibitions from artists all around the round to visitors from far and wide.
This project has been longlisted in the cultural building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
