Tabanlioglu Architects has created a hidden escape in Turkey where topography and terrain shape design and function.

The project is a luxury coastal resort set amid greenery on slopes leading to the Aegean Sea.

Challenging the idea of luxury, it blends into the unique topography, responding to and reshaping it without disturbing its essential qualities.

Bodrum Loft comprises the main hotel, private villas and social areas among its key spaces, the design of which is shaped by factors such as the angle of the sun, the winds and the vegetation.  Integrated with nature, light, and breeze, the result is a mixture of semi-open and open spaces at the core of the design.

Locally sourced materials such as wood and reed are used raw, which in turn provides a low-maintenance environment that weathers aesthetically. Local craftsmanship was also employed to produce floor and pool mosaics, as well as facade plasterwork and woodwork.

This project has been longlisted in the hospitality building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
