MATT Architecture has created an affordable housing project in London's Soho Conservation Area that marries the capital's historic foundations with new forward-thinking additions.
The design is a new-build affordable housing project of eight two-bedroom social rented apartments.
The building comprises an existing three-storey Georgian façade that has been retained on Greek Street, with two levels added to bring the building up to its neighbours' height.
All apartments are double aspect and corridor-free, featuring doubly curved handmade balustrading on the balconies, as well as views over Paraiso – a stainless steel bust set against a living green wall in the courtyard below. Bespoke Wedgwood blue tiles made from 3D-printed moulds define the rear ground floor elevation.
This project has been longlisted in the housing project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
