Crossboundaries designed the Songzhuang Micro Community Park in Tongzhou, China.
This project is a public gathering space designed in response to the diverse and vibrant community in Songzhuang – a local village in Beijing’s Eastern suburbs – notorious for its art and culture.
The revitalisation of the former street corner and sidewalk acts as a central gathering space for people of all ages and identities, creating an ever-changing life, and interactive display of the local culture and community.
The space is organised along a yellow path with “rooms” – each with certain mini functions to encourage interaction from the community.
Songzhuang Micro Community Park contributes to the growth of the most prominent gathering place for artists in China.
This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
