Timothy Hatton Architects has designed and refurbished the Foundry in London, UK.
This project is the result of a sensitive refurbishment of a former Victorian foundry, its yard and buildings, transforming them into an architects' studio with a series of intriguing spaces for art exhibitions and musical performances.
Tucked away behind a busy road in Shepherd's Bush, the multi-level development also features landscaped courtyards and three rental apartments.
The historic building is of significant local interest and the elegant brick 15m-high chimney is a renowned local landmark.
Repurposing the old foundry as an architects’ studio preserves the link with the light industrial heritage of the area and retains business use – while providing a beautifully functioning workplace, along with large spaces in which to host exhibitions, book launches, chamber music recitals and other similar events.
This project has been longlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
