Murray Legge Architecture has created a temporary classroom setting in Austin, Texas that doubles as a play structure when not in session.
The project is a solution created for the Little Tiger Chinese Immersion School which chose to move a large portion of its classes outdoors in response to the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The school needed a structure that could be built quickly and affordably before the start of the upcoming fall 2020 school year. The project addresses the primary concern to shelter the children from the intense Texas sun, and at the same time provides an exciting, playful space popular with the children who use it as a play structure when class is not in session.
This project has been longlisted in the small building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
