Ahu Studio has created a contemporary collectible furniture inspired by the traditions and mysticism of Asia Minor.

The collection sees each limited edition piece handmade in Istanbul by master craftsmen in small, specialised ateliers, blending the best local artisanship with innovative manufacturing technologies.

The sculptural solid wood and lacquer Ka've coffee tables are based on the symbolism of the evil eye ('nazar' in Turkish). The frames are treated with henna as a traditional means of highlighting the grain of the wood and giving the material its silky final touch. Metal detailing in copper-plated brass is hand-worked to order by expert blacksmiths, while printed surfaces are created with a hybrid method of advanced UV printing and high-gloss finishing.

This project has been longlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
