Carlo Ratti Associati has designed The Greenary in Italy.

This project was designed by Carlo Ratti Associati in collaboration with Italo Rota, as a residence that revolves around a 10m-tall tree in the centre of the house.

The Greenary advances CRA's research into new ways of fusing architecture, natural elements, and advanced technological solutions. A series of digital devices were installed to control the temperature, humidity and sunlight intake to ensure the comfort of the human and botanic residents.

In addition, organic materials were used with respect to the circular economy, such as natural flooring made of orange peel and soil that helps to minimise waste.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable interior category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
