Forest-Wood Archi-Tect NK has designed the Forest-Tree Classroom in Maopu, Taiwan.
This project is a sustainable natural building that grows from the surrounding forestry land. Prior to project commencement, it was said that an architect from Forest-Wood Archi-Tect NK lived alone in the local woodland for 150 days, following nature, rain and shine, day and night while keeping his regular daily routine and work.
As a result, four local cedars were thinned and logged down to allow him to design and build a forestry classroom while practising architecture with both hands.
"Wood is a material gift from nature to us for human builds. May we all be part of sustainable natural-architecture practitioners and make [it] more eco-friendly to the environment," added architect Forest-Wood Archi-Tect NK.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
